The Colonial Pipeline is restarting pipeline operations, after a ransomware attack may 7th 2021 with no physical damage incurred.
Gas stations across the East Coast have been reporting empty pumps and long lines of consumers waiting to purchase fuel with limited quantities available. It will take days or possibly weeks to reach normal delivery levels on the denoted 5,500 mile line with its rated 2.5 mb/day volume.
While the supply crunch has been isolated to the East Coast, the national retail price has broken the $3.00/gallon ceiling for the first time since crude oil prices were above $100/bbl (2014).
It is believed that a longer outage would be required before significant price impact.
